Just when you think your track work can’t get any more intricate! This is absolutely superb. Is some of the rail soldered onto copper – or is that an optical illusion? If so – how is the copper fixed to the wooden sleeper?
A lot of the sleepers on this point are fixed onto brass strips which are pinned down to the wooden sleepers. The more complex the point the more brass strips and the less plastic chairs. At least I find the critical bits of the point are more stable ( therefor reliable) when soldered to brass. The rail is stainless and needs special flux to solder it – and the soldering is a bit of a pain. The frogs are all silver soldered together then soft soldered to the brass strips.
